Look carefully folks, the asker knows that New York is in the US. Just a bit confused about the definition of "Greater New York City area," that's all.
Anyway, the greater New York City area is the area surrounding New York City. For example...Long Island, northern New Jersey, southwestern Connecticut, and some counties in "upstate" New York such as Westchester are all considered part of the greater NYC area. There is no official designation of what comprises this area, it's just a figure of speech.
New York City itself is in the United States, which means that the greater NYC area is also in the United States.
I think this should answer your question.

My buddy it relies upon on the time of day, the site visitors and how some distance are you going. Taxis in manhattan city are fee by the meter fee. The preliminary fare, once you enter a cab, is $2.50 and the meter is going up from there. My advice my buddy, take the subway, its quicker and greater inexpensive than a taxi. reliable success
