I am planning a 2 day trip to Manhattan in February for my husband and I. I have been to the city millions of times....but usually only for shopping, visiting people, etc. This time I really want to see the city, try restaurants, experience what it has to offer. Suggestions on things to see, places to eat, and even hotels would be much appreciated (have not decided which neighborhood I would like to stay in yet, so any suggestions are great and maybe they will help make my decision.)

Try the Museum of Natural History -- so much to see. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is another favorite of mine. Both are world-class museums. (Of course there's lots of other museums in NYC also).

I also highly recommend the Bronx Zoo. It is quite large, so be ready to walk. Be sure to check out the gorillas.

Make sure to catch a Broadway show, or some other type of life performance.

Restaurant recommendations: Carmine's or Ray's

Enjoy your trip!

I may suggest a few place in NYC to visit, except Times Square.

-Empire State Building: You can see the whole city and up to three states away, on a clear day, from the 86th Floor observation deck.

-Rockefeller Center: if you love skating then Rockefeller Plaza Ice Rink is the place for it.

-Staten Island Ferry: you can see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island as the ferry crosses the harbor. The best thing about it, its free and that's a bargain.

-Brooklyn Bridge: you can take a nice walk across the oldest suspension bridge in the city, especially at night

-Carriage ride through Central Park

I hope this information was very helpful. Good luck and happy travels.

Make sure you hit the East Village for cheap eats. There are a ton of Indian restaurants just on one block of e. 6th St. alone.

If you like ethnic food at affordable prices, definitely go to the East Village.

Here's my number one tip to tourists. Take out a map, pinpoint Times Square and then plan your trip as far away from there as possible.
