Thinking about going to New York In mid October - November time for about 4 days? I'm in England, and so our school breaks are around Halloween time and we have 2 weeks off, and so we're thinking about spending some time in NY.
Is the weather good then? Because we don't want the humidity of NY in August, or the coldness of it in winter, so we thought Autumn might be nice?
Thank you

October/November is the perfect time to visit NYC. Days are generally nice with averages is 50/60 F or 10/15.5 C range and nights are much cool (it can get down into the 30s F or 0c range). Overall the weather is very pleasant and very little humidity. Keep in mind it can rain ANYTIME in NYC and October is often rainy. Check out this chart for more info: http://weather.msn.com/monthly_averages.aspx?wealocations=wc:USNY0996
Another thing to keep in mind that late October/early November is considered the beginning of peak time in NYC and hotel prices will start going up. If you know for a fact you're coming, make your reservations NOW. Prices will only go up and hotels will be booking up. This is fact, not opinion.
Hope this info helps

New York in October and November is as you would expect. You will be there during autumn, so while it does get chilly, it's not too hot or too cold. Walking around and exploring the city while sight-seeing is the best way to experience New York and if you go in the fall you should be able to do that! I would recommend going in October over November as it will be slightly warmer. For information about what's happening in New York and unique accommodation information, check out the site below.

Normal highs in mid-October are 65F/18C and the normal lows are around 51F/11C. The normal temps gradually cool down to about a normal high of 60F/15C and a normal low of 45F/7C. Most daytime highs are between 50F/10C and 80F/26C throughout the whole month of October and the low usually never reaches the freezing mark which is 32F/0C.
November is about 10 degrees cooler than October on average. Normal highs start off around 60F/10C on Nov. 1 and gradually cool off to about 48F/9C on Nov. 30. Normal lows you can figure out, just subtract about 12 or 13 degrees from the normal high. Most daytime highs are between 40F/4C and 65F/18C. November does get quite a few warm days every year where the temp is higher than 60F/15C even though most people associate November with cold weather.
Rain also isn't as common that time of year as it during the spring and summer but there are usually only a handful of rainy days in the fall. Snow is almost completely out of the question when you go and when it does happen it's usually limited to the very last week of November.
