We will be in NYC next week staying in the time square area Carter Hotel, is there a bar we can be served alcohol and smoke cigars? or a bar in NY that allows smoking.

Despite having a mayor who is stridently anti-tobacco, New York still has a number of cigar bars that are fully legal under the law. They include: Lexington Bar & Books, Hudson Bar and Books, Club Macanudo, Carnegie Club, Circa Tobac, and despite the names all are public. In addition, it's legal to smoke cigars in NYC cigar shops, although unlike the cigar bars those establishments cannot sell alcohol.

This story from the Cigar Aficionado website describes where you can smoke cigars.

No, smoking in public establishments (and as of recently, even in parks)is against the law here. We don't have cigar bars.

In New York City? Since Bloomberg was elected, you can barely smoke on the *street* in New York.
