I can't remember which company makes them but there is a fantastic map book of the US made for truckers. Shows where all the weigh stations are, the good truck stops, everything a driver needs to know. All the answers (except for that AOL link) above were great but if he's in the middle of nowhere and can't get ahold of you...this book will definately do the trick. Make sure you get the one with laminated pages, he can use a grease pencil to mark his route and it'll just wipe right off....have been using these myself since 1989 and has always done just the trick

PC Miler is the only way to go. Tell him to get on the CB around truckstops, there is always drivers selling copies for about 20.

****************************************************DO NOT LISTEN TO THE REST OF THEM..........Those are all good for directions while driving a car, but not a semi. In a semi you must know where your allowed to go because of low bridges, restricted roads and many other things. PC Miler will tell you everything you need to know.

Mapquest.com. Click on trip directions and it will spell them out, mile by mile, turn by turn.
