Nyc Chutzpah has chutzpah in pretending to be an expert without knowing any thing at all. For example, he says you could take the Willis Ave bridge into Manhattan. That brige is one way out of the borough. I drove a commercial truck into the city from the direction that you are coming from, so I'll consider myself an expert.

Get to I95 southbound. Stay on it unti you get into the Bronx. After about four miles you will see a fork where one leg goes to the Throgg's Neck Bridge. Bear right and avoid it. Almost immediately you will see another split with signs pointing to the Cross Bronx Expressway and George Washington Bridge. Bear left towards Bruckner Blvd south and Triboro Bridge. (At this point you will no longer be on I95) Stay an this road until you go around a sharp turn and up a ramp. Stay in the right lane and get off at the second exit, I think it says Willis Avenue. (You can take the Triboro Bridge, but there is no advantage and there is a $5 toll. Maybe $10 for tour truck.) After you exit the highway keep left and turn left at the fourth corner. Most of the traffic will be going that way, but be careful of the red light camera at the second light. On the bridge keep to the left and you will be on second ave going south. You can follow this all the way down to Soho.

If you've driven a car, at least some of this should be familiar. Good luck.

You are correct that commercial vehicles are not allowed on parkways in the city. Depends on which part of the city you're going to. You can take 95 down to the cross bronx and then get on to the degan (87) south aka the thruway go over the Willis Ave or Third Ave bridge and then take the streets down or get onto the triboro to queens take 278 (BQE) to the queensboro bridge into midtown. Or go through jersey go over the GW go down to the lincoln or holland tunnel into the city. Driving a truck in the city is no fun. Good Luck

Yo Billy Girl, Haven't been in the south bx in a loong time (since we moved out of there). used to go across the willis ave often. BTW I do drive a commercial van into the city at least 3 days a week for my work, but now I live with humans on the left bank of the hudson

Hey Mr Thanks for the kind words

No go on the Hutch.

If it says "Parkway" you can't use it.

What are your exact starting and ending points ?

Update : To NYC Chutzpah who almost never gives incorrect info:

For a commercial vehicle there is no direct connection from the Triboro to the BQE

This person would have to use the first Queens exit{31st st ] cross thestreet and then use local streets to find the southbound BQE>aka following the semis

A better solution for the SB BQE from CT would be:

I-95S>Throgs Neck Bridge >Clearview Expressway >LIE -W> BQE -S

that is conceivable. in basic terms attempt to be certain which roads are extra pedestrian-friendly. that's some distance, yet no longer impossible. it could be style of the equivalent of doing a marathon (assuming you're ranging from an area like Stamford, and not all the way out in Hartford or something). i wish this recommendation became very effective.
